SE Association update:

Perman Shield:

The first round led to a home draw to the raining champions, Rochester and Cobham. After taking a 3-1 lead into the afternoon singles, it came down to team captain Danny Smith to hold a birdie putt on the 18th to win the tie 6.5-5.5. A great team win with a 2nd round home tie to either West Kent or Cherry Lodge.

Sundridge Park Trophy:

As holders, the team travelled to Cherry Lodge, winning a resounding 6.1-1.5. A home tie to Sidcup awaits.

Wilding Cole Trophy:

A brilliant 6.5-1.5 win at home to Wrotham Heath. A tricky away tie at Wildernesse is next up.

West Kent Cup:

A solid 6-2 win at home to Dartford for the 11+ handicappers. Round 2 sees Sundridge Park welcome Royal Blackheath.

Royal Blackheath Trophy:

A tough first round home draw to West Kent, The team lost a close-fought game, 4.5-3.5. We will be hosting the final later in the Summer.

Gray Trophy:

The SPGC Gray Trophy Team played their first round knock-out match Away to Lamberhurst GC. With a completely new Team this year it was always going to be a tough challenge and so it proved with a narrow defeat being the result. But we will benefit from the experience and look to bounce-back and be more successful in 2022.

My thanks are extended to Team members John Mack, Nick Cosgrove, Clive Short, Chris Canty, Colin Rice, Jim Riddell and David Cook for volunteering and to Club Captain, Alex Yazdani, John Emly and Andy Morris for their support on the day. Grateful thanks also to Lamberhurst GC who were superb hosts and we wish them every success in this year's competition (it would be a nice consolation to have lost to this year's Gray Trophy winners!).

Phil Baines

Congratulations to all of the winning sides and commiserations to the not so fortunate. A big thank you to all captains, players, reserves and supporters.
