I thought I had gone through all the golfing emotions to reach the final (Pat keep practising the bunker shots) but yesterday at Shooters Hill they reached a new level !
 
The afternoon produced the usual results where games were won or lost and the match was poised at 3 and half points for each club with one match to finish. All the teams and supporters were gathered around the 18th fairway and green with the match all square but Knole Park had accrued more won holes so Ryan Welch had to win as half was no good. This was when all the drama started.
 
Knole Park drove into bushes on the right and Ryan hooked his tee shot into the trees! After their recovery shots were played the match was still up for grabs.
They both found the fringe of the green with Knole Park chipping to 15 foot. John Reeves uttered the immortal words "don't worry Ryan is a great wedge player"...he produced a fantastic fat chip of 2 foot!!! Still with the honour he regrouped and chipped to 2 foot but we were not looking good.
Knole Park then took 3 putts to hole out so all on Ryan to sink his 2 foot putt which now appeared to be more like 10 foot. With nerves of steel he holed out to seal the victory and gave the team an unlikely win.
 
I wish to thank and commend  my team of Gavin Haynes Bernie Rowland Pat Owen Richard Jones Gordon Hedley John Reeves Ryan Welch , all the supporters who turned out yesterday and Richard Jennings Tim Thorogood and Martin Dennis for all their assistance in getting us to the final.

Lads we did ourselves and SPGC proud yesterday.
