Sundridge Park Golf Club’s own Ainee O'Connor, who is in her senior year at Lenoir Rhyne University, captained her golf team at Palmetto Dunes Golf Club, Hilton Head this week in their first competition of this semester.
After a fairly benign first day, Ainee was laying in joint 14th place out of 90 players, shooting three over par 75.
On the second day, the weather turned, and the girls had to play in extremely difficult windy conditions. Ainee had the best round of the day, shooting level par finishing joint first with two other players. After scoring a solid par on the 1st play-off hole, Ainee unfortunately lost to a birdie, but her solid play and great shot-making bode well for the rest of the season.
Ainee captained the team to a very creditable 7th place out of 17 teams in what was a very competitive field.
Our club should be rightly proud of Ainee's golfing prowess and her leadership skills.
Good luck to Ainee and the team for the rest of the year.
